They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber
How many times in life do we choose “Barabbas”? How many times is Jesus standing right in front of us, calling us, with his arms stretched wide wanting to help us, comfort us, protect us.. and yet, we choose Barabbas?
What kind of Barabbas’ do we as Christians face today?
- The devil. He is real and he is on the prowl – just bein’ real with ya all.
- Flesh/ Ourselves.
- The world.
Now, at some point, we all choose these modern day Barabbas’ but (I’ve news for you all!) JESUS STILL LOVES US. Yep, he does. Unconditional love my friends and because of what Jesus done for us we’re able to have a relationship with him.. and because of what he done, we get to enter into God’s presence. Guess what? We are not enough. Haha. I always see pictures on facebook/tumblr/instagram of things like “You are enough, don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t” Well, I don’t wanna be a buzz kill but I’m gonna be that person.. you aren’t enough. I’m not enough. Beyoncé isn’t enough. NO ONE IS ENOUGH. BUT >>> We get to rely on the one who is enough.
We have a spiritual enemy and he tries to throw storms into our lives to knock us off track, to distance us from God and many times we make poor choices as a result but that is not God’s fault. Let’s start making Godly choices. Even when we don’t feel like it. Sacrificial prayer, Sacrificial worship is still heard and received by our God
In the midst of a storm;
You have GOT to know that God can calm the storm. Don’t allow one storm to shake all your foundations and doubt God and what he can do. He is big enough, DON’T let fear takeover. You’re no longer a slave to fear.. just trust him. Trust the Lord.
For me, personally, a lot of the time my fears are rooted from my own imagination. My own thoughts scare the crap out of me. Let’s make our thoughts obedient to him.
Stop telling God how big your storm is and start telling your storm how big your God is.”
We don’t need to have it all figured out for God to calm our storm – we don’t. We don’t need to be enough but we do needa be in relationship with the one who is.
Something for me in this past season? I need to learn that every time a storm wells up inside of me, I need to bring it to Jesus. I need to pray. Because too often I get frustrated or worried or upset and I automatically think people have the answers, that’s not what God intends or wants us to do. I need to bring it to him first. Find my security in him – not this world. Not people. Not leaders or other Christians or mentors. Not my ‘Barabbas’
The enemy wants to derail you but you + Jesus = nothing can stop you from living the life God wants and has planned for you.
